The HR Masters is effectively the Hacienda Riquelme Club Championship and is the only 'Scratch' competition played in the society. The event is always played on the Saturday closest to the HR Community AGM and the day before the Rowley Cup and, despite being a tournament for our Category 1 players it is extremely popular with typical fields of 80+ players.  Category 1 is for handicaps 20 plus the HR slope.

The event was originally sponsored by Kevin and Donna Wilson in 2012 who provided the Cup, medals and jacket.

The Ladies Cup was sponsored by Wilhelmine and Neville Custance.

As per the 2019 AGM, if space permits, guests are allowed to play but they cannot win Honours Board tournaments. There is a best visitor medal.  New members will need to have an HRGS handicap (ie have handed in 3 cards) before they can enter this tournament.

The 'Club Champion' (best gross score) is presented with a winners medal, a cash award and, in true Masters tradition, a wine coloured jacket. The champion also gets his/her name added to the 'HR Masters Honour Board' in the clubhouse.

In addition to the main award, the 'best gross score' runner-up also receives a medal and cash award. There are additional awards for: 'Best Lady Golfer' (gross score), 'Best Men’s Nett' score and 'Best Ladies Nett' score.

Prizes are awarded on the evening of the following day and winning scores and places kept secret until that Sunday evening. The presentations on the Sunday are done immediately after the Rowley Cup presentations which signal the start of another excellent party night.
