ROWLEY CUP
The first society tournament inaugurated was the Rowley Cup in 2010. It was sponsored by Arthur & Irene Rowley and is still presented by them. It was designed to be a friendly game to get to meet your neighbours.
The Rowley cup is always played on the Sunday after the HR Masters and is a team competition, 'best 2 stableford scores from 4' on a hole-by-hole basis.
This competition has no specific handicap limits and is extremely popular with over 100 players frequently competing together. This competition has a 'shotgun start' and the course is usually closed for most of the day when we compete.
Whilst never the fastest game of golf you will play, it creates a fantastic atmosphere back at the clubhouse immediately after the competition when everyone is talking about their game. It is made even better by the El Cason restaurant team preparing and serving tapas & paella to all golfers during the first few hours after everyone returns to the clubhouse.
The event is open to all society members and their guests.
Prizes are awarded on the Sunday evening (alongside the HR Masters prize giving) and the team with the best stableford score is presented with the Rowley Cup (temporarily), a crystal trophy they retain and all players in that team get their name added to the 'Rowley Cup Honour Board' in the clubhouse. In addition to the main award, the runner-up team members also receives a crystal trophy each. The celebrations then commence in earnest.
To register your interest in playing in the Rowley Cup, find the event on the Booking application on this website’s GAME BOOKING page and request inclusion.
