MARGARET DANIELS TROPHY

The Margaret Daniels Trophy was first played in 2011. It is named after Margaret, who was the Hacienda Riquelme Community president for the first three years.

The event is typically played on the third Saturday in September and is a singles stableford format that utilises a 'shotgun' start. The event is extremely popular with field in excess of 100 players taking part for the honour of getting on one of the Clubhouse Merit Boards.

As per the decision at the 2019 AGM, guests will be permitted if space allows but they cannot win Honours Board tournaments. There is a best visitor trophy.  New members will need to have an HRGS handicap (ie have handed in 3 cards) before they can enter this tournament.

The maximum handicap (pre slope) for this game is 32 for Men and 33 for Ladies (pre-slope) so large fields are to be expected and it is essential to register your interest in playing a long way ahead of the actual event date as it is invariably oversubscribed.

Prizes are awarded on the evening after the event at El Cason.  There is a Men’s and Ladies winner.  The winners receive a trophy – a claret jug (only temporary ownership), a crystal trophy to keep, a cash award and get their names added to the 'Margaret Daniels Honour Board’ in the clubhouse. The evening event continues into the night with live music in the garden usually accompanying a large number of revellers late into the early hours.

To register your interest in playing in the Margaret Daniels Trophy, find the event on the Booking application on this website’s GAME BOOKING page and request inclusion.
