HACIENDA RIQUELME GOLF COURSE

Hacienda Riquelme Golf Course weaves its way through and around groves of olive trees, wildflower meadows, and large lakes. Taking advantage of the site’s larger scale, the Hacienda Riquelme 'Championship' course features wider-than-average fairways allowing players plenty of room to play while creating numerous strategic options.

The boldly contoured greens are sure to be the most talked about feature of the course. Many of the greens are broken into several sections by strong elevation changes making it crucial for golfers to play to the correct section of the green in order to set up the easiest putt possible. Additionally, the greens also feature numerous subtle random contours and rolls further complicating putting.

The unique bunkering creates a dramatic look sure to set Riquelme apart from other courses. Many of these large rugged bunkers are very deep with sand flashing in places up to three meters. The edges of the bunkers are cut in a jagged manner further adding to their distinctiveness while accenting the more rugged nature of the course.

The Hacienda Riquelme course is one of the 6 GNK Golf courses in Murcia that were designed by the prestigious firm Nicklaus Design. The other courses that form the GNK Circuit are: Mar Menor Golf, Saurines Golf, La Torre Golf, El Valle Golf and Alhama Signature.

In an interesting contrast to the other GNK Circuit courses, Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort’s playing surfaces will be grassed with the latest Paspalum varieties, decreasing the need for large amounts of fresh water. All of these features combine to give Riquelme an older look and feel, establishing the Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort as one of the most unique stops along what was previously known as the Nicklaus Golf Trail.

In addition to the challenging and exciting golf course, Hacienda Riquelme has a surprisingly spacious & relaxing feel about it. This is undoubtedly due to the unobtrusive nature of the surrounding buildings and the feeling of 'being amongst nature' on the course. The 5 lakes draw a wide array of birds  to the course including: Herons, Egrets, Cormorants, Swifts, Swallows and many more. If your timing is right there is even a chance that you will spot the rare Black Swan that nests at the lake between the 6th & 7th holes at Hacienda Riquelme.
